the club watergate in berlin is one of the worlds most celebrated institutions for electronic music. led-ceiling, river view and high class-bookings anchored the club deeply into an international scene. to avoid remembering our ten year anniversary only fragmentarily due to the big festivities, our label-department took care of the physical manifestation from that decade. and this is how it goes: respected artists who have become friends over the last years produced 29 exclusive tracks for us. we offer these tracks as an unmixed double-cd with music from maceo plex, dop, soul clap, tiefschwarz, mathias kaden, our watergate-residents and many more.

for a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as roland 808, sh 101, gr 500, we made some 8-track just for fun jam tapes. mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. from those sessions, only white horse made it to a final treatment. the rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too different. after white horse being a track indeed defining our sound, we thought it would be interesting to dig out left-overs to fulfill a documentation of that period - crucial for us at the time. we were still innocent newcomers, without actually knowing to be creating a new sound! recently, that left-over material was transferred from analogue to digital and, to stay as true as possible to original intentions, we only added vocals, bass and drumbeats ahead of a final mix. we hope that you will enjoy listening to it. good vibes from laid back copenhagen 2012.

john lord fonda is somehow a signore of electronic music in france, a free bpm hero. a simple and classy producer who only communicates through music.2012 is a new beginning for our antisocial nerd, with an ep and overall his album supersonique coming out now in france and may worldwide. he started re-producing track in 2005 delivering debaser, his previous album that sold more than 10 000 copies, having some really great feedbacks from so many medias worldwide.between june 2009 and october 2010, he got back in studio improving his production skills, getting the right way of producing for the current market, tracking all his weak point to get better, bigger. from the last years he only kept 2 tracks, brunette tattoo and orchidŽe, concentrating on brand new tracks and influences for all the rest of the album. he came back on stages in 2009 with composite, a live-set project which enabled him to discover upcoming artists and to assimilate all the new techniques.changing several time of tempo, supersonique is containing quite a few pearls, some efficient like brunette tattoo, you originate and orchidŽ. but the album also include some fine and melodic tracks like ÒemilianaÓ or toyboxes (which goes aphex twin electronica style). some ghosts from the classical music also haunt the album such as mozart, getting out (under acid) in whats going on, verdi facing some syncopated drums on sound of a melody or vivaldi on brunette tattoo. a full orchestra seems to drop a tear on orchidŽe.john lord fonda is a dance music warrior, an electro-tech seigneur, a future leader of free french techno. this second album has a huge class, a kind of urgency, full of simplicity, and goes straight to the point.

2011 collection released to coincide with the popular green man festival. selected and produced by rough trade shops, the cd exclusively features artists playing at green man 2011, and serves to distil the sonic ethos of the event. includes tracks from fleet foxes, the low anthem, josh t. pearson, iron and wine, gruff rhys, explosions in the sky, holy fuck, squarepusher and many others.

dj diamond is 24 year old karlis griffin from the west side of chicago. he has been producing music since the age of 13 and djing since 20, heading the -flight muzik- clique of footwork producers. you might recall his two tracks from our -bangs & works vol.1- footwork compilation of last year. in addition hes also released several mix cds in chicago, but this, his first international album showcases his unique style of footwork music. dj diamond is a unique producer with his own distinct style and an unusual ear for unexpected sonic and rhythmic combinations within the footwork template. often he thoroughly edits samples into tiny trance-inducing, techno-like stabs. combining this with a penchant for neon synths and loose, broken drums (that are often more effect-laden and freeform than those of of his peers) and you have a sound which has an intriguing, deeper, dreamlike feel. the breadth and quality of his production is clear when you listen to this album. take opener -rep yo clique-s woozy drawling synths and tribal tom patterns next to -speakerz n tonguez- with it-s snapping snares, minimal, repetitive voice samples and martial, detailed drum work. then a track like -torture rack- which is like grime in outer space: a minimal bassline and some samples from a computer game, while a bass kick stumbles at half time, swarms of percussive detail giving it drama. its a brilliant exercise in wonky tension. the extraordinary -decoded- comes across like a kind of amalgam of trance and prog rock bombast at 160bpm while -wreckageÕs- high pitch saw noise is like a strange metallic bird-call, over light cymbals, gabba-like kicks and metallic claps. -digimons- harmonic microedits could even be an snd track transported to chicago. finally the albums closer -i choose you- rolls out over a heavily edited and processed soul sample, its drums rolling off at odd angles to almost seasick effect.

the darkside of hardcore is back, even more heavy, even more experimental! this time the curse is casted by meccano twins and the subtitle confirm it: the wrath of god! dont expect cheap melodies or mainstream tracks, the sound is fat, extreme, harder than ever. many unreleased tracks from top producers like tommyknocker, tieum, meccano twins, promo, armageddon project, nosferatu, angel of darkness and many others. darkside: hardcore to his exteme level!
